Steak restaurants in London: why La Brasa is different

London has no shortage of steak restaurants. We focus on one thing: steak cooked over real charcoal, served with South American sides, at an independent neighbourhood restaurant in SE17.

Charcoal-grilled ribeye steak with baby potatoes at La Brasa Grill, London

Steak with a charcoal crust

Many steak restaurants in London cook on gas or electric grills. At La Brasa Grill, every dish in The Grill section of our menu is cooked entirely on charcoal, which gives the meat its smoky flavour and dark crust.

Choose a ribeye for richness or a sirloin for a leaner bite, or order a churrasco topped with a fried egg, the way it is served across South America.

Coming as a group? Our parrilladas for 2, 3 or 4 bring short rib, sirloin, pork loin, Argentinian chorizo, salchicha and chicken breast to the table with fries and fried plantain.

How to choose your steak

Ribeye has the most marbling, so it suits anyone who wants a rich, juicy steak. The fat renders over the coals and adds flavour.

Sirloin is leaner, with a firmer bite and a beefy taste that takes well to a charcoal crust.

Short rib comes in our parrilladas and is full of flavour, while churrasco is a thin, quick-grilled cut with plenty of char.

What to expect at our table

Each steak arrives with rice, salad and fries. Add South American sides such as fried plantain, patacón or cassava croquettes, and start with empanadas or chorizo con yuca.

Steaks on our grill menu start at £28 for churrasco con huevo, with sirloin at £35 and ribeye at £39.
